Victoria (Lynne)'s Story
On Saturday afternoon, September 13th,2008, I was on my way to work, and was hit head-on by a 19 year old boy. He had been going 65 mph in a 55 mph zone. I was taken to Harborview hospital, and died 2 times on the way in. I spent 5 weeks in the ICU unit, and had 9 surgeries before I was out of a coma. I was at Harborview for a total of 7 weeks, and was transferred to a nursing home, where I stayed for 3 1/2 months. I was fortunate that my company held my job for me during my time of recuperation. left hip. The nurses and doctors call me their miracle girl. They had told my family, and believed themselves, that I would probably not survive the first night.
I truly cherish life, and I am very grateful to the EMT's, the doctors and nurses at Harborview, and the people at Honeywell for all of their professionalism and support. I have a lot to be thankful for.
I am still out on disability until mid September, as I am still healing from all of my surgeries (totaling 11). Luckily, and surprisingly, I can function almost as well as before the accident, much to the surprise and relief of my family. It's been quite the journey.....
